ITER hotel concept. 4 star

Mock-up room

The concept of the hotel is rooted in the idea of a crossroads, where epochs, architectural styles, and cultural traditions intersect in a harmonious blend. Set in the rich context of Rione Terra, where the Roman tradition of city planning — the crossroads of the cardo and decumanus — still lies preserved beneath the modern town. These ancient paths symbolize the meeting of time, history, and innovation, connecting the threads of Neapolitan tailoring craftsmanship, tourism, and contemporary design. The hotel’s concept embodies this dialogue between past and present, every detail, from its materials to its symbolism, celebrates this dynamic crossing of traditions and history.

Details matters

Custom-designed patterns were developed exclusively for this project, enriching the textiles and detailing with a distinctive visual language. The concept centers on integrating a cross pattern into the FF&E details. This choice reflects the essence of the hotel’s narrative, where intersections of history, architecture, and culture come together. Each motif was crafted to enhance the overall concept, adding character and a refined sense of identity to the space.

General distribution

For this project, we’re diving into the challenge of creating a boutique hotel concept for Rione Terra, Pozzuoli. This place is more than just an archaeological area—it’s a historic treasure, layered with centuries of Roman architecture and culture. Rione Terra is literally built on history, with ancient Roman roads and structures preserved underneath the modern town, offering a unique opportunity to design something that connects the past and the present.

Iter

The concept of the hotel revolves around the cross, a timeless symbol of connection and transformation. It’s not just the inspiration for the name, "Iter" (which means "journey" or "crossroads" in Latin), but it’s also the foundation of the entire identity of the space. The cross also reflects the Roman planning tradition of cardo and decumanus, the two intersecting roads that structured Roman cities. These ancient crossroads—still preserved in the archaeological layers of Rione Terra—symbolize the meeting of paths, cultures, and eras.

"Iter" is more than just a boutique hotel—it’s a journey. It’s a place where the history of Rione Terra meets modern design, where every detail tells a story, and where guests can truly feel connected to the soul of Pozzuoli. This concept is all about designing a space that’s both functional and meaningful, blending timeless traditions with a fresh, thoughtful approach to hospitality. It’s a challenge, but one that’s all about creating something unforgettable and rooted in the beauty of its surroundings.
